A Remarkable Moment of Peace

Day 8 of Gwen Bell's Best of 2009 Blog Challenge:"Moment of peace. An hour or a day or a week of solitude. What was the quality of your breath? The state of your mind? How did you get there?" For the first day of the #best09 series (prompt: best trip) I wrote about the amazing Brand About Town retreat in Utah, and I'd have to say that my outstanding moment of peace and solitude this year also occurred in the middle of the Utah desert. Though our schedule was full while there, one morning I got up early to go for a run. As a relatively new runner and given the altitude change, the run was challenging (the quality of my breath? fast and furious) but the beauty of the solitude as I ran towards -- then stood to take in -- these mountains was spectacular.
