Life List: #29, Check!

Aw, yeah! Today I’m crossing #29 (find a mascara that doesn’t give me raccoon eyes 5 seconds after application) off my life list. Thanks to helpful commenters Paige, Caro, and Kristin, I had three great leads to follow up on. And though the most pricey of the options ($28), because this life list item popped into mind literally right as I was walking by Saks this week, I decided to try the Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara that Paige recommended. (Also, I felt kind of happy about being a little splurge-y on something as major as a life list item. And also, Paige is a bestie and her mascara always looks flawless. Yes, Paige, I notice these things.) So, the Trish McEvoy mascara lasted me from well before my Life.Style episode yesterday until the very end of the evening (aka. waaaaaay past my bedtime) after dinner with friends. And: NO RACCOON EYES! Not a single speck or smudge to be seen. And this, even though I didn’t even curl my lashes (apparently, I threw away my lash curler when I decided mascara was hopeless). I have to admit, I’m now coveting the Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancer Nighttime Conditioning Treatment (gulp…$125). I didn't know the price when the McEvoy rep was telling me about it, so no wonder she looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if she had a sample size I could take home and try out.

Though I'm now back on the mascara train and thrilled with the current results, I still plan on checking out Caro and Kristin's recommendations. Caro recommended Blinc’s Kiss Me mascara ($24 at Sephora) and Kristin recommended a super budget option in L’Oreal Paris’s Double Extend Beauty Tubes ($10.95…sweet!). All three mascaras apparently use some magical tube-forming-around-lash technology.

Part of me can't believe I'm waxing joyful about mascara, but even the little victories matter!

UPDATE: Also, following some queries on Twitter, I wanted to update to add that I wore contacts the entire day -- the mascara didn't irritate at all! Yippee!
