Explore 2019: Classic (Slower) Baking

You guys know that I love tackling a big crazy cake project, but this morning I decided that it would be fun to do some classic baking with Violet. Last week she was looking longingly as I made a fleet of banana chocolate + blueberry muffins (her idea!) for teacher appreciation breakfast, so I decided we'd make the blueberry muffins, but level it up with some extra slow baking love.

This recipe is from Cook's Illustrated and is awesome as a base because hello, sour cream! And the leveling up involves a lemon glaze + lemon sugar topping. I ran out of sugar (!) so didn't do the full dunk topping but even just a sprinkle of the lemon sugar was pretty amazing. It's fun to take the time to slow it down and add details in the kitchen!
