Explore 2019: Motherhood Memories

This right here is one of my proudest accomplishments. I delivered Laurel via emergency C-section following a raging case of Labor Day picnic food poisoning + a mystery fever. As you can imagine, it was the opposite of my detailed natural birth plan! With Violet, I did not bother writing out a birth plan (fool me once!) but I was very clear that I wanted to try for a VBAC.

I was in labor for 58 hours (not a typo!) but delivering Violet via natural VBAC was the most incredible thing ever. If you want to read her birth story and how this all unfolded, you can get to it via the link in my bio but I will just say that this moment...when Laurel met the sister she had dreamed of, when I was in a delirious, puffy, ravenous, bloodshot state (my midwife kept telling me to not squeeze my eyes shut because I was going to pop blood vessels but it was hard!), when we became a family of four...what a joy.

The days can be hard. They can be frustrating. They can be logistically maddening. But at the core, I know I'm very lucky to be where I am. I'm wishing all the moms a lovely day, and peace to those of you who are struggling with motherhood or mother relationships.
