Embrace 2020 43/365: inserting pauses

You know those ball machines that people use to practice hitting in baseball or tennis? The ball machine of my life comes on high speed via email, text, and my to-do list, whether it's related to work, parenting, relationships, or household stuff. And yesterday, in my flurried attempts to hit the balls back and get them out of my court and be a "good" mom I made a mess that left Violet, then me, then me and Violet together in tears.

It seriously sucked. Violet forgave me immediately but I didn't. Self-flagellation is one of my Korean ninja skills.

Today, as I work on breathing and forgiving myself, I'm also working on inserting pauses--not hitting all the balls back immediately, letting time do its thing where it ought to, letting the act of letting some balls drop show where the priorities truly lie. Wearing penguin shirt to encourage me to lighten up.
