88

My Dad left this world too early (at age 71). Had things gone differently for him, I wouldn't be surprised if we were celebrating 88 years today with him at this very same spot at the head of the dining room table of our childhood home, a massive spread of bulgogi, chap chae, mandu, kimchi, and countless other potluck dishes crowding the table.

In my Dad's final years I had the privilege and joy of watching this brave, complicated, duty-focused, highly burdened, sometimes terrifying human find a different gear in life and evolve from lion to lamb. This is without a doubt the cutest, most relaxed photo I ever captured of James Koh and I am grateful to have it in my archive.

Love to you always, Dad. I often marvel at the burdens you and Mom carried, and appreciate all of the complex things you were. Thank you for fighting to the end for us.
