PODCASTING

I made the shows I wanted to listen to.

I created two podcasts for the same reason everything I've built exists: I saw a gap, I had something to say, and I figured out how to create the product.

WEEKLY

Edit Your Life

Not long after handing in our manuscript for Minimalist Parenting, I said to my co-author Asha Dornfest, “We need to make a podcast.”

Why? Because there were so many topics in our book — and so many outside of it — that could help a broader audience. I wanted to dig into the pain points and the solutions in a deeper way.

I didn’t know how to create a podcast, so I figured it out.

Honest, practical, and grounded in real life rather than aspiration, Edit Your Life launched in 2015. Asha retired from the show in December 2021, and I have been publishing a mix of expert interviews and solo episodes since — weekly, year round.

A top-rated show on Apple Podcasts and winner of the 2017 Podcast of the Year Iris Award, Edit Your Life helps people simplify and declutter their phyical, mental, and logistical space to make room for the things they are care about. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your favorite shows.

Hello Relationships

It was 2020. The world had shut down and nobody knew how to talk to the people they were suddenly stuck at home with. My husband Jonathan — a licensed mental health counselor — and I had been having a lot of useful conversations about communication friction. So we decided to share these thoughts to help people through this tough time.

Hello Relationships was one season, built from scratch during the pandemic, with no production budget and a very clear sense of what people needed to hear — how to stop small aggravations from becoming big problems so you can learn to grow and communicate better. It's a good example of what I do: identify the gap, make the thing, make it useful.

This curated collection of 10 episodes was well received, with many requests for us to return for another season. When the season is right for us, we might!
