Anatomy of a Compassionate School Sex Ed E-mail

Last week I shared on Instagram Stories that I sent an email about sex ed to our middle school principal after curriculum night. A bunch of people asked me what I said and I was reminded to do so today after recording an amazing Edit Your Life Show podcast episode with Gabrielle Blair (of Design Mom and the ass kicking forthcoming book "Ejaculate Responsibly: A Whole New Way To Think About Abortion"), in which we talked about the importance of advocating for access to birth control + comprehensive sex ed.

Here is the email; I decided to break down what I felt was essential to communicate, both because I am a mega nerd and also because I believe it is more effective to enter conversations about tough things with a compassionate lens. I hope this example is helpful to you.

And I am happy to share that the principal responded immediately, and looped in the district health director!
