Roll’s Bad Ass Mother Runner, 24 Weeks

What a difference a year makes. Around this time last year I ran my first race ever – the Thanksgiving Gobble Gobble Gobble run in Davis Square. It was a big moment for me, and I was extra emotional given the new running journey I was on (I am forever indebted to my Shredhead buddies for inspiration) and the fact that I was running that very first race with friends and family. Since that day, I’ve continued to chase the carrot, as it were, running 5Ks, a 5-miler, and most notably, the crazing amazing 200-mile relay journey I ran as part of Eat. Blog. Run.

And now, well, I’m pregnant. I’m not running races. I am, however, continuing to hit the pavement in the form of walk/run intervals -– a fitting return to my formative Couch to 5K days. And it's pretty awesome that Roll has been cool with it; it feels totally comfortable and fun to be running.

And admittedly, I feel kinda bad ass when I'm out there.

But yes, I do get a lot of weird looks. Here are some (super flattering!) 24 week post-walk/run pictures, in which I’m wearing my Gobble Gobble Gobble race shirt from last year (and yes, I know I'm stretching the limits of this tee). Amazing what a front vs. angled shot will do for the magnitude of the belly.

Who knows how much longer I'll be able to keep this up, but for now, I'm loving every minute of the badassery.
