#reverb10: Beyond Avoidance

Today's #reverb10 writerly prompt is: December 20: Beyond Avoidance. What should you have done this year but didn't because you were too scared, worried, unsure, busy or otherwise deterred from doing? (Bonus: Will you do it?) (Author: Jake Nickell)

For me, this prompt ties to the Action prompt from last week. There are two major things I have been avoiding for my design business Posh Peacock -- not because I’m scared or worried about them, or unsure about how to tackle them, but because sometimes I get paralyzed by seemingly large projects when I’m otherwise faced with a long to-do list of quick action items.

But I am determined to stop avoiding these tasks; it's tiresome to keep pushing them forward on my to-do list and -- to me -- is a continual reminder of the lameness of avoidance. One task (which I want to hold off on specifying right now) should probably only take me a couple of hours if I just sit down and do it. The second -- which is the site redesign -- will take longer, but I have already taken the initial steps. I created a killer new logo back in the fall, and inspired by the Action prompt, I've recently completed the new homepage design + inner page template. Now it’s a matter of reformatting all of the interior pages and photos etc., which will be a lot of work, but the hardest part (the templates) is done! I set a goal of Alt Summit (January 2011) as a completion date and I’m determined to hit that target.
