#reverb10: Make

Today's #reverb10 writerly prompt is: December 6: Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it? (Author: Gretchen Rubin)

I make things daily as part of my design business, but if I think outside the realm of work projects, there are two things I have made recently:

1. DSLR camera cozy. I created this DSLR camera cozy with no pattern; I just totally winged it, which was rather liberating for someone as detail/perfection oriented as I am. And what was super fun is that Laurel loved working alongside me as I created it; she has a fashion paper dolls kit and made her own creations while we chatted, pretending we were on Project Runway.

2. Croissants. My brother in law came in from the West Coast this weekend and he loves treats and recently had been to Paris. It has been on my life list to explore making French pastry so I decided to celebrate his visit by making croissants from scratch. Oh my goodness they were spectacular!

As for things I want to make, also on my life list are two creative projects that are not work related. One is that I want to find a really cool way to represent our family tree (my family history has long been confusing to me; I'd like to get that sorted out in this lifetime), and also find a pretty way to display Laurel's school photo series (she has school pictures dating back to her days in the toddler room at day care).
