May 2022 Reads

What have you read and loved this month? Here are my thoughts on the three books I finished.

Jasmine Guillory is a unicorn. I have read several of her books and "While We Were Dating" immediately roped me in. I loved Ben and Anna's banter and how they both accepted and pushed one another. It was a fun fantasy window into the complicated life of celebrity and this book also has plenty of steam!

I think about how we hold opposites (e.g., trauma and hope, pain and joy) pretty much constantly, so reading Mary Laura Philpott's "Bomb Shelter" -- in which she lives in a held space of anxiety and optimism, sadness and happiness -- was very much on point. I think this book will resonate deeply with parents, and she is just a delight. If you want to hear more from her, I interviewed her on @edityourlifeshow.

I know it's on all the summer reads list AND yes, I did enjoy "Book Lovers" by Emily Henry! It bounces along with pleasing cadence and given my, er, varied experiences with literary world over the years, it was fun to enter this world through fiction. Also, some of you know I sometimes cast characters with actors or everyday people I know as I'm reading and for some reason I cast Phillip (Chris Geere) from "This Is Us" as Charlie Lastra. I loved how this story landed and had a huge smile on my face at the end.
