Mi Tierra Tortillas

I want to share an awesome small business story with you.

After a COVID scare on January 1, I started using Instacart and then switched to Shipt (after reading some trash headlines about Instacart) for grocery delivery. I honestly can't believe I haven't stepped inside a grocery store in 3 months.

One issue I encountered, though, was that it was really hard to find preservative-free tortilla. Either it was unavailable altogether or I'd find some (e.g., Good & Gather organic at Target via Shipt) and toss them in my cart and they would be out of stock when the shopper got there.

After sharing about this in Instagram stories, I heard from some folks about Mi Tierra Tortillas. I was thrilled to learn they are a small local business in Western, MA. So I bought a case and shared the follow up report in Stories (picture of my big ass case of tortilla, taco pictures, etc.).

A couple of weeks ago I received an email FROM THE FARMER OF THE CORN THAT MAKES THE TORTILLA. It was so sweet and he said he doesn't know anything about social media but heard I helped spread the word and they received a bunch of orders and that they were so appreciative. I seriously almost cried. Small businesses have suffered so hard during this pandemic. Here was a human behind the business reaching out.

Anyway, I was reminded I wanted to share this story because the tortilla and the people who make them are awesome. This morning I leveled up my order and ordered two cases (288 tortillas). Yes, we eat a lot of tacos. And yes, they freeze and unfreeze well!
