October 2022 Reads

What have you read and loved lately? Here are my thoughts on the four books I finished this month:

I'm not sure I have ever rooted so hard for characters and yearned for the truth to be revealed as I have in reading "Lessons in Chemistry" by Bonnie Garmus. This book has many deep, interwoven threads and as a former woman in science, damn did it resonate. This may be my favorite book so far this year.

I adored "Nora Goes Off Script" by Annabel Monaghan. I seem to be reading a lot of novels about writers but this one felt fresh, fun, and heartbreaking. I did not see the mix up element coming at all, which was delightful. And I cast McSteamy as Leo in my head. LOL.

"The Work Wife" by Alison Hart was a random grab off the library new releases shelf. I was pulled to see how it ended and it was also agonizing in its portrayal of the impact of wealth, power, and patriarchy. Not a fun read, exactly, but a good read.

WOW, "All of This" by Rebecca Woolf is unapologetic, intentional, and searing in its honesty about the freedom found in grief and her subsequent evolution into her full self and womanhood. I have known Rebecca for many years through the blogging world and the poetic way she writes cuts to the heart and is steeped in earthy imagery. I fell in love with her even more through this book.
