#reverb10: Appreciate

Today's #reverb10 writerly prompt is: December 14: Appreciate. What's the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it? (Author: Victoria Klein)

There are so, so many things that I’ve been grateful for this year; so much so that I started blogging weekly about gratitude.

However, if I had to choose one thing that I’ve come to appreciate in the past year, it would be my instinct. I have spoken at conferences and written about instinct before -- I’m definitely a gut person, though I didn’t really start following my gut until I became a parent and my instincts started calling (OK, actually, screaming) out to me in a way that I had never before experienced.

This year in particular I’ve had countless experiences where I have followed my instincts -- both in the personal and professional realms -- and been rewarded (for example, turning down well paying professional opportunities that were not a good fit for me, then having perfect fit opportunities come in shortly thereafter).

And how do I express my gratitude? I keep listening to my instincts and trusting in the universe. And I try to spread the message to others to listen and trust too. Because we’ll all be happier if we’re not driving with the brake on in life.
