#reverb10: One Word

Basically, I think Gwen Bell is brilliant. So it wasn't surprising when I read about #reverb10 (of which Gwen is the brains) and thought, "This? Is awesome." I can't guarantee that I can keep up posting every day in December as part of #reverb10 but I will try. Today's writerly prompt is:

December 1 One Word. Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you? (Author: Gwen Bell)

My one word for 2010: Gratitude

Why? I had countless experiences -- personal and professional -- where my spirit was tested but I stayed true to what was important (usually the very simple things) and/or my professional point of view and was later rewarded. I felt immense gratitude again and again. I've subsequently started a weekly reflection about gratitude on this blog.

My one word for 2011: Renewal

Why? I envision personal and professional renewal in 2011. Personally, bringing a new baby into the world clearly will lead to a renewal of how our family functions and how I approach the world. And professionally, I feel change coming. I'm not certain how that change will manifest itself but I feel creative renewal impending. I have a feeling a lot of sparks will fly in that regard when I travel to Alt Summit.
