#reverb10: Travel

Today's #reverb10 writerly prompt is: December 22: Travel. How did you travel in 2010? How and/or where would you like to travel next year? (Author: Tara Hunt)

I loved all of my travel adventures in 2010, but it does occur to me that it was a bit imbalanced. All of my major travel (i.e., not family car trips) was for conferences or work, and while on two of these trips I had the joy of taking Laurel with me (she is the best travel buddy!), Jon, Laurel, and I did not make a major trip as a family.

Now, given that I’m having a baby in March, I’ve probably made family travel a little more complicated for 2011 but I’m still thinking about it. Before I got pregnant, I was thinking about adjusting things in 2011 and stepping back from conferences a bit, and the timing of my delivery and some of the conferences that I was thinking of sort of sealed that decision. I’m only committed to Alt Summit in January at present and I think I’ll probably leave it that way (though admittedly, I’m kind of dreaming of a last minute trip to Mom 2.0 in April).

Otherwise, Jon, Laurel, and I have been talking about a multi-phase European adventure and perhaps 2011 (while the baby could still qualify for a free seat!) would be the time to do it. The idea of traipsing through Europe with our newly expanded family just seems utterly wonderful to me!
