Explore 2019: Natural Eczema Remedies
Who are my eczema sufferers out there? Vi periodically flares up on the inside of her elbows but this past week has been AWFUL. Super itchy and also at the wrists and on her legs too. The past two nights the itchiness has woken Vi up and she's come into bed with me and man, the sound of her scratching vigorously is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I have basically been up every couple of hours applying cream. (Note to self: if I ever get any ideas about having another baby remember the current zombie state I am in after 2 bad nights of sleep.)
We've been using our typical OTC creams (e.g., Aquaphor, hydrolatum) as well as the prescription stuff (triamcinoclone) and have also cut out dairy the last few days (Vi is not happy about losing access to cheese).
Part of me was wondering whether I need a stronger prescription med but I definitely would rather explore (my #2019 word!) natural remedies. So I'm trying an eczema cream recipe I found on Dr. Josh Axe’s site. I feel like you can't go wrong with shea butter, coconut oil, honey, lavender, and tea tree oil. I made a batch and it smells fantastic and I do like the consistency of it a lot. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WORK.
Also, yikes I just cleaned my office and discovered a delivery from Mad Gab’s (thank you Mad Gab’s! yay, women-owned businesses!) -- these natural body balms include some additional ingredients beyond the Dr. Axe cream I made so I'm going to try those next or maybe in tandem because I reaaaaallly want to sleep through the night tonight!
If you've got other eczema recs I'd love to hear them. Awesome probiotics? Favorite humidifiers? I am open to exploring more natural remedies for my poor babe. Thank you in advance!
