Embrace 2020 121/365: April reads
What are you reading and loving? Here are my thoughts on the four books I read in April. Also, I cannot believe April is 30 days long because this April felt about 5 months long.
1️⃣ I tore through Jasmine Guillory’s Royal Holiday. Such a fun plot and HELL YEAH for a romance novel centered around a grown woman!
2️⃣ I'm so impressed with KJ Dell’Antonia for pivoting from nonfiction to novel. I loved The Chicken Sisters and weirdly, I cast Meghan Markle to play Mae while I was reading it!
3️⃣ There were several moments when I felt compelled to email R. Eric Thomas as I read Here For It and it was not easy to not email him.
4️⃣ I unfortunately struggled with Gish Jen's The Resisters, which bummed me out because RESISTERS + Asian woman author + powerful female leads! I think I have just felt a little mentally all over the place the last week or so and a futuristic Big Brother (or rather, Aunt Nettie) story was too hard for my fragile flower self. Definitely give it a try if this genre resonates with you and/or you like baseball!
