Re-Entry
I have been both dreading the return to the hustle tomorrow and also am genuinely excited given that I finally have clarity about how I want to approach work this year.
If you're also feeling the dread I wanted to share what I have been repeating to myself to stay grounded.
1. It's OK to be gentle on yourself with re-entry week. We have a lot of days of 2021 ahead.
2. Most people will also be cranking their mental hamster wheel back up. Let's enjoy the gentle trot.
3. If you've got a long list of action items for tomorrow, identify maybe 1-3 items--the most crucial things--to focus on. Getting anything else done beyond those key action items is gravy.
4. Make sure to build in protective and restorative care to your week...the little things matter. I'm planning on regular yoga (even just 10 minutes) + making a big pot of lemon/ginger/honey tea + some text checkins with friends to start.
5. Do some simple food prep today so you don't need to think hard about meals and people can help themselves. For me that's stuff like roasting vegetables and making a big pot of brown rice + tofu but it can also be stuff like making sure you have enough cereal, eggs, and bread on hand because breakfast for any meal is totally acceptable!
6. Don't forget to enjoy today! Yeah, there's probably lots of household shit to take care of, but that shit clearly isn't going anywhere.
