10 Things Right Now

Today, I want to share 10 things about life right now, over a year into the pandemic.

1. Even though things have been extraordinarily hard lately, I feel hopeful today. What a gift that is.

2. I deeply believe in the power of storytelling to connect people and foster empathy. Telling racial trauma stories has proven important. It's also emotionally exhausting work.

3. I am a mom of 2, though if you wonder why you don't see identifying images of my kids here it's because I try to maintain boundaries. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to worry about boundaries so I could share more of my kids with you.

4. I have done yoga every day of 2021; notably, most days we're talking about 10-20 minutes. Small moments and actions are magic.

5. I am highly committed to sweatshirts that look like real shirts (like the one I'm wearing below). I published a roundup on this topic this time last year and I have been thinking about refreshing it.

6. None of my non-stretchy pants fit. But last week, I saw it as a huge point of personal growth that instead of despairing and self-flagellating and thinking about dieting, I was like, OK, if I want to wear non-stretch pants, I need to order the next size up. It's all good. Bodies change.

7. Magical stones are my jam. Pictured below are a few of my friends; Jon made the cute little wooden sphere holders for me. #truelove

8. I will be last in line for the COVID vaccine (as a young'ish person who works on the internet and has no pre-existing conditions) but every time I see a vaccine selfie I am filled with joy.

9. My sole new goal for 2021 was to write one major media byline. I never imagined that by now, I would have 4 published pieces + major radio and news appearances. Writing is my great joy. You can check those things out via the link in bio if interested.

10. For the last couple of months I have been on the serious struggle bus with some personal issues but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.

If you want more fun facts, hit up this post.
