Embrace 2020 106/365: mask making

Do you struggle with reading instructions? I am the worst at it and it makes me wonder how I have basically survived life. It's definitely easier for me to learn visually (thank you, YouTube), or even if it's less efficient, I go for the trial and error route.

Yesterday my trial and error approach was in full effect as I made my first face mask. We've been using our ski neckwarmers when we're out for our daily walks but I'm finding we can't launder our stash fast enough so I decided it was time to try to make some. I tried a couple of the easiest approaches (no-sew bandana + straight rectangle) and they felt too clunky for me... like I had a diaper on my face. (It's entirely possible I did something wrong because of aforementioned direction reading problems.) One of my sisters pointed me to a New York Times tutorial and I skimmed it and it worked. For the next round I want to add a pocket to hold a coffee filter but for a first, rough prototype, I'm happy! Make sure you wear a face covering when you go outside! And also increase your distance around other people, especially runners. I read something about increased droplet radius around runners and was like AGGGGGHHHHHH.
