Carolyn Mackin's Cape Cod Stripes Workshop

I first met artist Carolyn Mackin through my friend Paige Lewin and immediately fell in love with her. I mean, I'm kind of primed to fall in love with artists (ha) but truly, I spent most of my time at Paige's solstice party last year chatting with Carolyn and her husband.

Carolyn kindly offered the opportunity to try out her Cape Cod Stripes Workshop. I chose kit #1 (surfside) and spent this morning with Carolyn (virtually...she is a lovely, calm, there-are-no-mistakes teacher). WOW, what a wonderful, genius way to make creativity accessible to people! The kit has everything you need + I was delighted to discover that it includes 4 primed papers, which meant I could work on 4 paintings simultaneously, which is, well, rather Christine Koh. If I'm going to clear off the dining table, I really want to sink in! Also, the video course is comprehensive and includes a bunch of preliminary orienting videos re: supplies and techniques but I skipped right to the demo, which is also rather Christine Koh. It all worked out!

What a wonderful project! It was so relaxing to do and fun to learn! Swipe to see stages of the project + the final 4 paintings. I am going to keep one and gift the other 3 to family members on Jon's side... symbolic as the last time we were all together was last summer on Cape Cod.

Please support this wonderful human and artist. Thank you, Carolyn!
