November 2020 Reads

November (notably, getting past the election) signaled the return of my brain's ability to read again. Here are my thoughts on the four books I finished this month:

I wish I hadn't been in such a distracted, stressed out (read: pre-election) state when I started reading "Beach Read" by Emily Henry because I definitely struggled focus-wise in the front half of the book. Once the election finally happened I was able to better focus on the back half of the story and it was wonderful.

I was sucked in from page 1 of "The Guest List" by Lucy Foley. And I loved that though her writing style conveyed such a strong sense of imagery for me in terms of the setting and characters. SO GOOD.

As a fan of The Crown it was a fun ride to envision an American parallel through "American Royals" by Katherine McGee. I have the sequel (Majesty) on my to-read list.

I wish the characters got together sooner, but “Real Men Knit” by Kwana Jackson is a fun read that covers diverse families, grief, and breaking gender stereotypes.
