Wings Of Fire Birthday Cake

Violet's cake for tonight! After the intensity of producing that CNN piece so quickly yesterday I was hugely grateful to spend the evening mixing icing colors and piping this cake. Cake therapy FTW.

Violet loves the Wings of Fire novel series so I decided to try to pipe one of the dragons (I believe this is NightWings). It's a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting (her request) and then as I was thinking about how to pipe this it felt a little odd to pipe in buttercream on top of cream cheese frosting (just me?) and also, I knew I would need to "flood ice" some areas, so I decided to use piped cookie icing.
