Nonsensical Shit

Are you the sensible, get shit done person in your household? ✋ I spend a lot (OK, most) of my time solving problems and making rational decisions, often in service of other people and furry creatures.

It's fitting to the above statement that I am finally sitting down to write this post nearly 12 hours after this photo was taken, after taking care of a mountain of sensible shit since arriving home. And here's why the moment in this photo is so important.

The original plan this morning was to spend an hour, maybe an hour and a half tops, skiing @smugglersnotchvt before we headed back home to pick up James 🐾. But the weather was wild yesterday so the Sterling lift was delayed an hour and we spent a considerable amount of our wait time trying to decide whether we should just do the sensible thing and pack up the car and leave or try to squeeze in one run and do all the illogical things re: gear and packing to make that happen.

I need to hand it to Jon. I was being very accommodating and preparing to just pack the car, even as I was staring longingly out the window as the sun was breaking through. He finally said, "I think Mom really wants to go and I think we should all go ski a final run with her."

Did it make logistical sense to get all geared up, drive to the mountain, ski one run, and then drive back to our lodging to get out of our gear and do the final packing Tetris? Absolutely not. But to see that sun shining, and happily and confidently ski one glorious run after my emotional breakthrough (see my earlier feed post about affirmation with Nancy) with my crew was pure magic and just what my heart needed.

I don't have a ton of space in my day to day life to do the nonsensical shit but clearly I need to do more nonsensical shit. ❤
