Thanks, Casey

I have been off social all day because OMG I had my first, full uninterrupted workday in my office since this shit show started. But wow, this photo represents a seriously joyful start to the day.

Last week, minutes after Casey Brown and I sort of hijacked the comment thread on a newspaper-oriented post by Amy Mascott (sorry Amy πŸ˜†) I received an email notification thanking me for my subscription to The Boston Globe. I immediately texted Casey "Did you subscribe me to The Boston Globe?? πŸ˜†" to which they replied "absolutely." And then I laughed all the laughs because what is this life having friends like this?!

Here's the funny thing about The Globe. I spent MANY YEARS of my childhood working assembly line style with my siblings to assemble the Sunday paper at my parents' convenience store in Jamaica Plain. The individual sections came in bundles and shopkeepers needed to collate. I can still remember how filthy my hands would be after assembly and then the excitement of washing up because oftentimes my Mom bought a box of Dunkin’ Donuts for after. (Is there a more Boston pairing?) As a teen I had a Globe paper route. So The Globe was a major part of my growing up.

And now, finally as an adult I have a Globe subscription. Thank you, Casey. I love you.
